Employee Burnout continues to be a concern

Employee burnout continues to be a concern for organizations, as it affects every aspect of the workplace, from employee productivity to retention.

Burnout signs can vary by person, but some general signs include absenteeism, declining performance, conflict with others, isolation, fatigue and expressing concerns of managing workload.

How can you tackle burnout in your business or team?

✅ Create a safe space for employees to speak up. Have regular check-ins with your team members and discuss resources needed, raise concerns and have clear discussions around expectations and priorities. Run lunch and learn sessions with topics such as stress management, resilience, time management to give employees the tools to incorporate into their work and life.

🍏Promote flexibility and balance. Ensure your employees are taking their time off (vacation, breaks etc.) so they can rest and recover. Develop flexibility practices in your workplace so employees can balance work and personal demands.

🛄Provide resources and support. Offer access to employee assistance and health & wellness programs. Consider hiring temporary staff to manage periods of high workload and fill open positions. Distribute tasks to prevent overburdening of any one employee.

💡Provide professional development. Engage and motivate your team with training opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Pair new and existing employees with mentors for guidance and support.

➡️Leadership. Senior leaders and business owners lead by example by demonstrating a healthy work life balance and showing that taking care of one's mental and physical health is valued at all levels.

Having a healthy work culture is possible and will be successful when leaders work with employees to address systematic and cultural issues. You don't have to do it alone, contact us if you need support: info@p3cc.ca.
